Bed Rest????????????

Well, today was a bit of an adventure for Mama. It was check-up day with the doctor for new baby and of all days, Mama's blood pressure was a little high. So the doctor that was filling in for the regular doc sent her over to the hospital for something called a non stress test. The hospital said that the baby looked great and was very active, but Mama's blood pressure only came down when she was resting. So, the hospital sent her home with strict bed rest orders. Now I don't know about you, but that doesn't sound too fun to me and I think Mama's pretty upset about it too. She goes to see the doc next Thursday and hopefully things will be looking up, but for now she is going to have to rest, rest, rest. I don't really know how she's going to do that because I'm really a handful these days. I don't like to stay in one place. I like to go flying around the house and I like to move around from place to place. We'll just see about this bed rest thing Mama. I'll try to be good, but I think we're going to have to break the rules every now and then and get out of bed!!!! We'll keep you posted!!!

So sorry to hear of your high blood pressure and bed rest. I can totally sympathize. I had pre eclampsia and was on bedrest for 2 months with Trevor. Hang in there, soon you'll have your bundle of joy to hold and love! Prayers are being sent your way.

Heart Hugs,

Jackie

P.S. We all break the "rules" of bedrest :)

Lori,

Hang in there and definitely try to rest. Make sure you are drinking enough water. If I recall correctly magnesium and potassium can help too. So how do bananas sound? I can't remember the other foods high in mag or potassium at the moment although I think almonds is one.

Make sure to ask for help and accept any that is offered. That way you don't have to break the bedrest rule very often.

That's tough news, Lori, but you'd better be good. You don't want to do anything to complicate your upcoming (soon) delivery. Before Rick was born I was trying to paint the kitchen and got toxemia and got that same wonderful news. bed rest!! I had our Randy who was 22 months running around so found that difficult and ended up in the hospital for a few days. If you don't rest like they tell you, they'll end up making you do it in the hospital. So be as good as you possibly can and hopefully by next week the blood pressure will be down. As some one else already said, accept help offered and let Randy take over. Sound like he's pretty adept at caring for Connor. We're praying for you. Love, Jo Ann & Rip

Take advantage of the rest Lori, as it is the last rest you will have for the next 18 years!!!!! I am sure you have plenty of help?? If not, don't be afraid to put the call out. Take care of you and Jesus will take care of the rest of the family!!! You are an amazing woman and an inspiration us all!!
