Can't a girl get a cheeseburger?????

So I guess the Lord must really have a sense of humor. Tonight I wasn't able to get to the cafeteria for dinner because of being in with Connor. About 8:00 my hunger pains set in and I decided to head out of the hospital for a cheeseburger. For some reason, a fast food drive-thru cheeseburger really sounded like it would hit the spot. I made my way to the car in the Giraffe parking garage to find that I had a dead battery. That's right, dead!!! I couldn't get that thing started for the life of me. I walked back in and had security come out to the car to help. Thank the Lord for Tony!!! He was able to give me a jump start and off I went to get my cheeseburger. I quickly sped down 45th street to find the nearest drive-thru. Would you believe on a busy street such as 45th street, which is where the UW is also located, there is not a drive-thru to be found. Thank heavens for neon signs because down a side street I saw the red and white glow of Jack In The Box. I made a quick, hard right-hand turn and realized I was going the wrong way on a 1-way street. Yikes, I thought, what am I going to do now???? I'm sure I looked like quite a dope, but I did a u-turn right in the middle of the road!!! Thank goodness there wasn't traffic!!! After going around the block I was finally in line at the Jack In The Box. I made my way to the ordering kiosk and quickly ordered a cheeseburger and an iced tea. Would you believe that in response to my order, the person on the other end of the big plastic sign told me, "I'm sorry, we're all out of beef tonight!" WHAT?????????????? So I said, "What do you mean you're out of beef? Isn't this a burger joint????" Her response was nothing more than, "I'm sorry ma'am, we don't have beef!" So, begrudgingly, I conceeded and ordered anyway. Would you believe I ended up with a breakfast jack and 2 egg rolls!!!!! How's that for a substitute for a cheeseburger. I am now thouroughly convinced that the Lord has a sense of humor.

Lovebug Hugs,
Lori

WOW! Lori! Yes He does have a sense of humor. WHERE"S THE BEEF FOR GOODNESS SAKES!!!! I'll have to say, that did make me laugh a little :). Hopefully your next quest for a cheeseburger will be successful! We are praying tonight for restful sleep for you three and that Connor's fever breaks now. Jesus, comfort little Connor and Randy and Lori too, help them to get a very restful nights sleep.

LORI!!
I can just see the picture now of you driving around in uttermost desperation!!!! I am sooo sorry you went through such a horrible time. I think that if I were you , when the cashier told me that they were out of beef I would have probably broke down in tears at that point!! Ughhhh, good for you for having a good sense of humor in the middle of a hard day.

On another note, we will be praying that the fever goes away quickly and that the doc's will still get a clearer picture of all of this.

Love
Tammy

Oh my goodness! I can't believe it!!! That is hilarious. I am reminded of a Veggie Tale Silly Song called "I Love You Cheeseburger!" in which Mr. Lunt is in a VERY similar situation. I think I have an extra copy of that video and will send it. Connor will someday love Veggie Tales! :)

Next time I'm in the mood for a good juicy cheeseburger, I'll be thinking of you. :)

Hope today's meals hit the spot a little better.

Love you!
Heather

Lori -

That story brought me back to Eugene, although I think it was little Caesars that we made midnight runs for, but that was funny! Thanks for sharing God's humor! I just can't even imagine Jack in the box being out of Beef! Thats like Little Caesars being out of sauce!

Love,
Andrea

Okay, I see you have one recommendation. Two more: McDonalds on 25th Street runs North and South of U. Village and then Kid Valley Burger on the corner of 25th and 55th. So now you have options in case there is another beef shortage...

Lori,

Just wanted to let you know that we were praying for Connor at bible study in relation to the spot found a couple days ago. We had sung, Trading Your Sorrows, Xiomara prayed that doubts, fears, discouragement and frustration would be traded for God's joy as you continue this life journey. Oh, how the tears flowed. In addition, Jan prayed that God would breathe the breath of life into Connor. As she did, I saw a picture of God giving CPR to Connor and breathing His life into his lungs. May Connor's lungs be expanded with each breath that God breathes, for His supply is ample and more than enough. Interceding and believing....Shawn and the Ladies Bible Study

Ahhh, now that was good. :) I'm STILL laughing. :) :)
Hey, you know, when it get's this crazy you either have to burst out into tears, or just burst out into good ol laughter. Both do a body good. Kida like a good refueling. :)
For possible future outings, the University Village is right down the road from you. Dan would usually go there to pick something up for us, on his way back from work. So if you are ever interested in take out there's World Wraps and Johnny Rockets. But you're right, no drive thru's. :(
We're still here for you Lori, and always thinking about you guys.

Your family in Christ,
The Blanchards

Lori,
Your story also reminded me of Mr. Lundt in the Veggie Tales story. My kids love it and I can sing right along. But it also reminded me of the time we went to KFC and when we walked in the door the girl sweeping the floor asked, "Are you here for chicken?" We were all stunned that she would ask and Rick, being the king of sarcasm said, "Nope. We came in for Strawberry Shortcake." The girl proceeded to tell us they were out of chicken and didn't make strawberry shortcake. My mom looked at her dumbfounded and said, "You're OUT of chicken at Kentucky Fried CHICKEN?" It was a very wierd conversation but she wanted to assure us that they had plenty of potatoes and coleslaw if we wanted......lol.....
I am praying for continued strength for you and Randy and a miracle for your little bug. I pray that the doctors soon figure out what they can do to help God fix your precious baby boy.
Love~Tia

"God won't give me more than I can handle

There are times I just wish He didn't trust me quite so much."

Saw this and thought of you and Randy. Wanted to let you know that you are in our prayers daily.

My baby grand daughter who is two and 1/2 years old prayers for baby Connor very night. Just know that there are even little prayer warriors holding you all up pray.

Still here standing with you and pray for his new mercies for the new day.One day at a time ,I always say,but in your case, one moment at a time for those moment seem to last so long and the pain is too great even to look for the next day. Each moment is so precious when we are put in charge of Gods special little gifts.Conner is a gift to all of us for we all have seen God in a different light because of him so we gladly bear you up in our prayers tonight and always.Know that you are loved .As for that hamburger story,Well you handled that with much more grace than the rest of us would have.I see our prayers are working in your behalf.I laughed and then I cried with you on that one.Keep up the good work soldier.Gabi and family
