Splendid Weekend For Little Bug!!!!

It has been an absolutely splendid weekend for our precious little bug!!!! He is looking so good and everyone is saying that we are getting really close to going home!!!!! Wow, I can't even believe I am typing those words. Oh Lord, Let it be so!!!!!

Here's an update on how quickly things have changed. The docs have decided to discontinue the 6 week round of antibiotics that they called for 2 weeks ago. He will probably stop this particular antibiotic sometime early this week and then he will have to prove himself by not spiking a fever. If he can do that, then they believe it will be fine to take him off this medication. I mentioned the other day that he did have positive blood cultures, but that was actually good news because now they actually know what they are treating, and it is working. He is feeling sooooooooooooooo much better. He got a blood transfusion on Friday and he has a lot of color back in his skin. He has been on and off the c-pap, but only during naptime and bedtime. There is a possibility that we could even go home with a c-pap machine if he really needs it. They have stopped the Morphine and Ativan and they are only giving it to him as needed and he hasn't needed it in 2 days...Praise the Lord!!!

Today he was doing so well that when I walked in this morning Connor was nowhere to be found. I caught our favorite Nurse Amy walking around the unit with Little Bug in her arms. She was just strolling along without a care in the world. Connor wasn't hooked up to anything. He was cord and wire free and happy as a little bug could be. Randy and I also got to take a proud walk around the unit and show him off. And proud we were. I think we walked taller and straighter than we have walked in months. It was just so much fun to see Connor having such a great couple of days.

I'm sure that this will be a pretty truth-telling week for Little Bug. If he continues on this fabulous run of good days, then we are pretty sure that we could look towards going home in a week to a week and a half. Yes, that's right, I said HOME!!!!! Please continue to pray that Connor remains on this road of healing and that the docs will feel that he is strong enough to make the transition home!!! As always, I will keep you posted and let you know of his progress!!! God is preforming daily miracles and we sense the mighty, mighty hand of God waving his love and protection over us. Thank you Lord for your continued healing touch!!!!

Lovebug Hugs,

PS ~ By the way we hit two major milestones today......1st off, Connor made it to 9 pounds!!!! Yippie....he's finally starting to grow!!!! Secondly, sometime around 11:15-11:30 this morning someone clicked onto our site and we reached 10,000 visitors!!!! Wow, Little Bug is touching the world!!!!! May the world see Jesus shining through this little bugs life and may they be changed for all eternity!!!!

OH MY GOSH LORI! What a change in direction!!!!! :) Yippee!!!!! PRAISE THE LORD! My oh, my. Now I'm crying tears of joy. :) God is SOOOOooooooooo good!
Randy...Lori...Connor...that day is coming soon that you will walk out of your hospital room, together, walk down the hall, together, walk into the elevator..together...walk out of the hospital.........together, get in the HOME......TOGETHER!!!!
I will never forget the day we did that. You would have thought that we would have been in a mad dash out the door. But we had nurses, literally, lined up down the hallway to say goodbye to us. And then when we got to the automatic doors of the front entrance, to leave the hospital....I just couldn't help myself but to stop and cry. I had looked forward to that moment like nothing else…….and then we stepped out into the real world. The sun, the wind, the trees....and we drove home together, as a family. :)
Our continued prayers are with you. May this moment come sooner than later for you as well.

Much love to you all,
Your family in Christ,
The Blanchard’s

Randy & Lori~

Way to go Connor! And, thank you Lord! Please continue to heal our Little Bug so that he may go home and play with Abbey.

It was so great to read your entries on all of the improvements. And, thank you Randy for calling us to fill us in on the great news. We will all pray that Connor continues to improve and can progress toward discharge.

Randy, we are praying for a quick tour over sandland. Thank you for your dedication to defend our freedom. Go Airforce!

Lori, I am sorry that we didn't make it down after all. There is so much to do before we leave for Washington DC. Thank you for understanding! Maybe our next visit will be at your own home in Auburn.

I am glad that you all had a much better weekend. I pray that it is the corner Connor finally needed to turn to get him on the road to recovery. Praise the Lord that the cultures identified a specific infection type so that the doctors could treat it with confidence.

Lots of loves,
Auntie Heather

P.S. Bergen officially began using the word "plane" last week. On Saturday, he added "a-plane." We always talk about how Uncle Randy flies airplanes. It seems that we are in the flight pattern for Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. So, we have plenty of opportunities to see planes go by. We offer up extra prayers for Randy's safety at those specific times.

Last night, Olivia talking about praying for Connor Scott. She wanted you to know that she doesn't pray for Connor just ONCE, she prays EVERYDAY! :)

YEAH!!! I am so happy to hear that you are getting closer to going home. It won't be long before Conner is big enough to say the all familiar child's phrase, "Are we there yet"? I am sure if he could talk now, that is what he would be saying! I am so excited for you guys! We will continue to lift all three of you up in prayer for health, safety & encouragement. I love you guys!
