On our way to GI....

Good morning everyone!! We started our day out the same way it has been for the past few days...Connor has an episode and everyone goes into a tailspin and then he gets morphine and ativan and now he's knocked out!!! Yikes....This cycle is vicious!!!! He also had another one last night and we thought for sure, we were headed back to ICU, but they held off to give him a chance to settle down. He did for awhile and then cycled again about 1am. Oh, the poor fella is so tired from having to go through this and mama is so sad to watch him struggle so many times a day.

We are on our way to do an upper GI test that will last about 2 hours. They will be studying his GI tract and his intestines to see if there is possibly an obstruction or some cause for the pain. They will also be able to tell if he could still be refluxing, even though he had the nissen procedure done. There are many courses of action but they need to narrow the field of possibilities down so they treat him effectively. Once again, please pray that the docs and the observers will see exactly what the problem is and that they would be swift about making a plan for Connor to feel better.

I will update more when I have a chance after we return from the tests. We also hope to meet with the surgeons today regarding Connor's heart. Hopefully we will get a clearer picture of the future and what our prospects are at the moment.

Lovebug Hugs,
Lori

Hi Lori,
Looking at the time of your update, I notice we were on the computer at the same time!

I was so sorry to read about the vicious cycle Connor Scott has been in. It is truly exhausting.

I don't know if you feel this way, but it seems like the narcotic weaning cycle has no end in sight. They are supposed to be weaning the ativan but he keeps needing it. May not seem like it now, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

You are so strong in the midst of this terrible trial. God is surely strenthening you day by day to go on when you may wonder how you could possibly keep marching in this battle for your precious little son.

We have finally left inpatient at the hospital and I certainly don't miss it, but I am sad that I know I we won't run into eachother unexpectedly at the usual hospital hangouts or in the hallway. Your beautiful face and shining light of your spirit are a gift.

Keep your eyes on our Jesus. He has his littlest lambs in His hand.

Susan

P.S. We will anxiously await the results from today's tests. I hope and pray they can get to the root of Connor's pain soon. It just isn't fair that little Connor has to go through so much.

Lori, Randy, & Connor,
I have been praying so much for Connor that he would get to the turn around point where he would have better days (and nights)

I know that you are tired, but when Mom is there, please try to go out to the trailer and sleep.

Randy, we are also praying for you, and that your journeys would be safe.

Connor, your granpa is anxios for you to get better so that you can go home and snuggle with your Mom and Pop. We sure pray that the Doc's would be able to find out today what is the problem. (sure wish that you could just tell where you are hurting.

We love all of you.

Love bug hugs and kisses.

Love Dad.

Lori & Randy,

So sorry to hear that this vicous cycle is continueing.
Hoping & Praying that the upper GI will shed some light on Connor's episodes or an absolute MIRACLE would happen. I have been watching the show "It's a Miracle" with "John Boy Walton" hosting(can't think of his real name!!). Really neat, True stories.... It just reaffirmed my belief in miracles. Your right Lori, God is still on the throne. We just have to keep praying & watch the process unfold. Hang onto that & try to get rest for your weary bones.

Randy, Our PRAYERS are going up for you daily to be ENCOURAGED & come home SAFELY to Lori & your cute little bug! This must be tough to be away. We love You, Big Brother.

Connor, We are dyeing Easter Eggs tonite, the kid's want to make a special one for You!!

Next year you'll get to get in on the Easter Egg hunt!!

We are thinking of you & hoping you feel better soon. We love you lot's.
Love, Cousins Chloe, Emma & Jake

Lori,
A dear friend left the lyrics to this song on our blog. I thought you would enjoy it.

He's My Son

I'm down on my knees again tonight
I'm hoping this prayer will turn out right
See there is a boy that needs Your help
I've done all that I can do myself

His mother is tired
I'm sure You can understnad
Each night as he sleeps
She goes in to hold his hand
And she tries not to cry
As the tears fill her eyes

CHORUS:
Can You hear me?
Am I getting through tonight?
Can You see him?
Can You make him feel all right?

If You can hear me
Let me take his place somehow
See, he's not just anyone
He's my son

Sometimes late at night I watch him sleep
I dream of the boy he'd like to be
I try to be strong and see him through
But God who he needs right now is You

Let him grow old
Live life without this fear
What would I be
Living without him here

He's so tired and he's scared
Let him know that You're there

CHORUS

Can You hear me?
Can You see him?
Please don't leave him
He's my son

Lori, I must say 'amen' to what your dad said, he is so right that you must try to get some sleep in the trailer when your mom is there. I've never met your parents but I can tell that you are blessed with a wonderful family.

One of your other comments made me laugh...about 'John Boy Walton'. That's what we call him too when we can't think of his real name.

With our love,
Susan (and gang)

Lori,
I had it on my heart to tell you, what I guess has been on the heart of others too, in reading your most recent postings, to take your mom up on the offer of sleep. I know, as a NICCU baby mother, we don't want to miss a moment with our precious baby. But then we have to think of the other side, we are our baby's one and only advocate. With all of the rotating doctors and nurses, we have the ONLY eyes to see EVERYTHING that is happening. But those eyes have to have sleep, to be sure to take in all of that information, and not miss any, with lack of sleep. Your mother sounds perfect to take your seat when you and Randy can't be there. Take her up on that offer, put your trust in the Lord that He will take care of everything else, and go back to the trailer to fully catch up on that sleep.
Not that I want to tell you what to do or anything, but I remember seeing my families faces when they would come up to visit me in the hospital, it was like they were seeing a ghost or something. At least you keep up with your make up, hair and everything else. By the second month, I was showing my wear and tear. :( But didn't know it.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, let the Lord, and your mom, take some of your "yoke". Especially with Randy away too. It will make a WORLD of difference for you, AND for Conner. :)
Sincerely from the heart,
Your sister in Christ, and fellow NICCU Mommy,
Tara Blanchard
